4-Ingredient DIY After Sun Spray

Learn how to easily make your own DIY after sun spray! This spray will feel so good after you get a sunburn or just want to protect your skin. Plus, it’s super easy to make!

Summertime brings joy and sunshine, but it can also leave our skin feeling sunburned and dehydrated.

We are out as much as we possibly can during these hot summer days, and while it feels so good, my skin is suffering.

Even sometimes when I make sure to put on my DIY natural sunscreen, we still get burned or at least have a little sting at the end of the day.

I have an aloe vera salve and a burn salve which are both super helpful, but I want something nice and quick, especially when it comes to my kids.

So, I knew I needed to come up with an after sun spray, and I did! Turns out, it is super easy to make and feels so good.

This natural remedy not only soothes sunburns but also hydrates and revitalizes your skin.

Here you will learn about the benefits of this spray, along with the easy after sun spray recipe, plus other fun ways to use this spray too!

Ingredients and Their Benefits

Before I get to the recipe, I want to briefly talk about the benefits of each of the ingredients in my after sun spray:

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is renowned for its soothing and healing properties. It’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help repair and hydrate sun-damaged skin.

Aloe vera gel provides a cooling effect, reducing inflammation and pain associated with sunburns.

It is the most common ingredient for relieving sunburns, but I prefer to use straight from the plant, not the green one with chemicals from the store.

Water

Water acts as a hydrating base for the spray, ensuring your skin receives the moisture it needs after sun exposure. It also helps to dilute the essential oils, making the spray gentle on the skin.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps reduce redness and swelling while promoting skin regeneration.

The soothing scent of lavender also aids in relaxation, making it perfect for post-sun care.

Lavender is a powerhouse oil, so I try to use it in all my recipes if possible!

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil has antiseptic and cooling properties. It provides relief from the heat of a sunburn and helps prevent infection.

  4. Prevents Infection: Eucalyptus essential oil’s antiseptic properties help prevent any potential infections in sunburned areas, ensuring your skin stays healthy.
