Here is the base ingredient list for my handmade soap with sea moss. The two most important base ingredients are the sea moss and the glycerin soap base.

As we learn how to make sea moss soap without lye, I’ll share some of the benefits of these ingredients.

Sea Moss

Sea moss, which is sometimes called “Irish Moss” or “Irish Sea Moss”, is a species of red algae that has been used for centuries and for good reason. Sea moss is rich in sulfur and has high mineral content.

I love using it to make a sea moss sugar scrub and sea moss gel.

It contains a lot of healthy nutrients, essential minerals and vitamins like vitamin k, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and a long list of others.

It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and soften skin while giving you a natural glow.

Glycerin Melt and Pour Soap Base

Using a glycerin base when soap making helps moisturize healthy skin. It is gentle for sensitive skin and can help relieve irritated and dry skin. This is because it doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals so it’s safe for most skin types and for those who have skin conditions like eczema.

Like most melt and pour soap bases, it’s easy to use. A glycerin melt and pour soap base uses natural ingredients and is often used in handmade soaps because it adds an extra protective layer to your skin’s natural barrier.
