What is a Sugar Cookie Scrub?

A sugar cookie scrub is a gently exfoliating body scrub made with sugar and skin nourishing oils, butters, and extracts that mimic the scent of warm, just baked sugar cookies.

Most cookie sugar scrubs contain two main elements – an exfoliant and a moisturizer. The exfoliant is typically white or brown sugar which provides light abrasion to buff away dull, dry skin cells.

Moisturizing ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, or cocoa butter are also incorporated to replenish moisture and leave skin soft and smooth.

Finally, sugar bath scrub recipes use mixes of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg to give the homemade sugar body scrub its signature scent.

Benefits of Using a Sugar Cookie Scrub

Beyond just smelling delicious, there are a few great sugar cookie scrub benefits too! Here are a few of them:

  • Exfoliates – The sugar granules in the scrub lightly helps to remove dead skin cells, dirt, and oil that can build up on the surface of the skin. This reveals fresh new skin and improves texture.
  • Moisturizes – The emollient oils and butters hydrate and soften skin that can become dry and flaky in cold winter weather. The oils also help seal in moisture.
  • Smoothes skin – By regularly exfoliating and moisturizing with a sugar cookie scrub, skin becomes noticeably softer and smoother.
  • Improves circulation – The process of manually scrubbing skin increases blood flow and circulation, which boosts the health of your skin.
  • Relieves stress – The soothing, repetitive motion of scrubbing along with the deliciously calming aroma of sugar cookies can lower stress levels. Plus it is a great 5-minute self-care routine!
  • Brightens complexion – Removing dull skin cells gives your skin a natural glow and radiance.
