4-Ingredient Homemade Coffee Scrub for Face and Body

Check out this incredibly easy homemade coffee scrub for face and body recipe! It is a gentle exfoliator perfect for your face and entire body, plus it is a super simple DIY coffee face scrub recipe, anyone can make it.

Coffee has been used in natural skincare products for quite some time. It is known for having great anti-aging properties and can even help with cellulite and making your skin be more firm.

I have made a coffee bath bomb as well as a coffee soap bar, but I wanted to make something that used coffee that was gentle enough for the face.

So, I created this coffee facial scrub! It is so gentle you can use it on your face to keep your skin healthy and young.

Here is my simple coffee scrub recipe, along with all the coffee scrub benefits and how to make this recipe unique to fit your skin.

Bonus: this is a DIY coffee scrub without coconut oil, because I rarely use coconut oil on my body!

Benefits of Coffee Scrub

There are so many coffee scrub benefits, but here are a few of my top favorite ones:

Exfoliation: Coffee grounds are excellent natural exfoliants. They help remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Plus, when you further grind the coffee grounds, they are gentle enough you can use them on your face!

Anti-inflammatory Properties: The caffeine in coffee has anti-inflammatory effects that can help reduce redness and puffiness, making it particularly beneficial for the face.

This was a big reason why I wanted a nice coffee facial scrub.

Antioxidants: Coffee is rich in antioxidants that help fight free radicals, which can damage your skin. These antioxidants promote healthier, more youthful-looking skin, another one of the best benefits of this DIY coffee scrub for face!

Improved Circulation: Massaging the coffee scrub onto your skin can help improve blood circulation, which can enhance your skin’s overall appearance.

Cellulite Reduction: While not a permanent solution, using a coffee scrub can temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite by tightening and toning the skin.

Ingredients for DIY Coffee Scrub

Now, here are a few of the benefits for each of the ingredients in my homemade coffee scrub:

Coffee Grounds: Use finely ground coffee for a gentler exfoliation. The coffee grounds exfoliate the skin, reduce puffiness, and provide antioxidants.

Oatmeal: Oatmeal is known for its soothing properties. It helps to calm the skin and provides additional gentle exfoliation.

I added oatmeal to help balance out the coffee so it is gentle enough for your face; plus, we all know the benefits of oatmeal soap and using an oatmeal lotion, so I knew it was great for the skin too!

Coffee Essential Oil: Adds a small dose of coffee’s beneficial properties and enhances the aroma of the scrub.

Avocado Oil: This carrier oil is deeply moisturizing and packed with vitamins and nutrients that nourish the skin. It is one of my favorite carrier oils!

DIY Coffee Scrub Tips

  • You can add in some sugar or salt for more exfoliating powers. However, salt and sugar are usually too harsh for your face, so only for your body scrub.
  • You can use any type of essential oil you want! Lavender is great for your skin as well as chamomile.
  • Clays are another great additive that can really help with your face. (Check out my green tea face mask!)
  • If you want to make this more of like a face mask, try adding a tablespoon of honey and leave on your face for a few minutes.
  • Adding vitamin e oil can help preserve this recipe for a bit longer and is also super beneficial for your skin too!
  • I found it best to scoop out a bit of the coffee scrub and put in a small tin to use in my shower. That way, the rest of the scrub remains dry and away from the water. This helped it last a long time!
