Easy DIY Vanilla Body Butter Recipe
Learn how to make your own DIY vanilla body butter. This is such an easy recipe and it smells incredible; you won’t want store bought body butter ever again!
I love all things vanilla! In high school I would always use a vanilla perfume. It became my scent, so when I learned all about the chemicals in perfumes, I knew I needed to make my own.
After making my own homemade vanilla perfume, I LOVED it. So I knew I had to make more vanilla scented things!
Made with natural, nourishing ingredients, this body butter deeply hydrates while leaving your skin with a sweet vanilla scent.
It is perfect for personal use or as a thoughtful handmade gift. I gifted some but made sure to keep one for myself because it smells amazing!
Here is how to make vanilla body butter, it’s benefits, and more!
Benefits of Vanilla Body Butter
Here are some of the benefits you get by making your own vanilla body butter:
Deep Hydration: Shea butter and cacao butter work together to lock in moisture and soften the skin.
Skin Nourishment: Avocado oil is packed with vitamins and antioxidants that promote healthy, glowing skin.
Anti-Aging Properties: Vitamin E oil helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and protects against environmental stressors.
Relaxing Aroma: Vanilla essential oil creates a soothing and indulgent scent that calms the senses.

DIY Vanilla Body Butter Recipe
Here is my easiest vanilla body butter recipe! It will make around 6 ounces.
Supplies
- 1/3 cup shea butter
- 1/3 cup cacao butter
- 1/2 cup avocado oil
- 1 tsp vitamin e oil
- 25 drops of vanilla essential oil
How to Make Vanilla Body Butter
Add the shea butter and cacao butter together. Heat in a double boiler until completely melted.
Combine the avocado oil in the melted butters and heat until warm too.
Once everything is warm, add in the vitamin e oil.
Transfer to your mixer bowl and put into the fridge for 30 minutes or so until it has thickened, but not fully hard.
Take out of the fridge and add in the vanilla essential oil.
Whip the body butter for 5-10 minutes. Be sure to scrape down the sides and mix it thoroughly.
Put into an air-tight container.
Notes
- The vitamin e oil works as a preservative and should last between 3-6 months minimum.
- To make this even more powerful, infuse your avocado oil with vanilla beans! I did this the second time around and it was even better!!
- Any carrier works, not just avocado oil.
