How to Make Your Own Natural Eyeshadow

Learn how to make your own natural eyeshadow with these recipes! It is a natural, customizable way to create your perfect shades at home.

Have you ever bought an eyeshadow palette only to use the same two shades over and over? That used to be me.

I’d end up with a drawer full of half-used palettes, each with one or two colors I loved, and the rest I didn’t touch.

So I decided to try making my own, and it was such a fun and empowering process, so I had to share my results with you since I shared about my natural blush I recently made too.

The best part? It’s fully customizable and free of synthetic fillers or irritating additives.

Here is how to make your own DIY eyeshadow!

Ingredients for DIY Eyeshadow

Here are all the ingredients I used to make my very own makeup palette.

The magnetic eyeshadow palette from Simply Earth is amazing and so helpful when you decide to make your own eyeshadows.

The small and rectangle tins fit in perfectly and will allow you to create a variety of pressed eyeshadow for your DIY magnetic palette!

I mainly focus on using the mineral makeup base. It can be used for just about anything from foundation to blush, bronzer, highlighter, and tons of DIY eyeshadows. It’s made with natural ingredients and works great!

I used both pigments and mica powders for the DIY eyeshadow palette. The iron oxide in the pigments help sustain the colors and the mica enhances some of the colors. I love using both of these options!

The coffee grinder helps combine all the colors and makeup base nicely. If you don’t have a grinder, you can always use a mortar and pestle, but it does take a bit longer.

DIY Eyeshadow Palette Recipes

Below are some of the favorite shades I’ve created. Each one is made with just a few ingredients and blends beautifully into the mineral base.

Sand Eyeshadow

This is a calm beige color. It uses the following:

  • 1 tsp DIY mineral makeup base
  • 1/32 tsp yellow iron oxide
  • 1/32 tsp brown iron oxide

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

If you want to make a pressed eyeshadow, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.

Mountain Eyeshadow

This is a nice pale gray color. It uses the following ingredients:

  • 1 tsp DIY mineral makeup base
  • 1/8 tsp black iron oxide
  • 1/8 tsp brown iron oxide

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

For a solid option, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.

Deep Water

To make a deep blue color like the ocean for your homemade makeup palette, use the following:

  • 1 tsp DIY mineral makeup base
  • 1/16 tsp brown iron oxide
  • 1/8 tsp blue ultramarine

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

For a solid option, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.

Pearl Eyeshadow

While I did use this recipe for a DIY white eyeshadow, it can also be used as a highlighter too! It uses the following:

  • 1 tsp DIY mineral makeup base
  • 1/2 tsp pearl mica powder

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

For a solid option, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.

Coffee Eyeshadow

This coffee eyeshadow can also be used as a bronzer if you wanted to! It uses the following ingredients:

  • 1 tsp DIY mineral makeup base
  • 1/4 tsp mocha mica powder
  • 1/16 tsp yellow gold mica powder
  • 1/16 brown iron oxide

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

For a solid option, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.

Pink Punch Eyeshadow

I had to include pink in my DIY makeup eyeshadow! My daughter loves this color. It uses the following:

  • 1/4 tsp rose red mica powder
  • 1/4 tsp fuchsia mica powder
  • 1/16 tsp yellow gold mica powder

Simply measure out everything and combine it in your grinder.

For a solid option, you will want a little bit of almond oil, cetyl alcohol, and mango butter. Melt and then mix the powder inside. Pour in your tin until it is solid.
