Easy 3-Ingredient DIY Soft Scrub Recipe

Learn how to make your own DIY soft scrub with essential oils, baking soda, and more! This homemade scrub is great for cleaning your kitchen, bathroom, shower, and just about anything.

When it comes to cleaning, the products we use matter. Many cleaners you find at the store have so many harsh chemicals that can be harmful to our family’s health.

That’s why I love making my own DIY cleaning recipes. One I recently made is a DIY soft scrub! It was so easy to make but is a powerful cleaner, so I had to share it with you!

This simple yet powerful concoction can revitalize surfaces throughout your home without the worry of harmful residues.

So, here is a super easy DIY soft scrub with baking soda recipe, along with some tips and tricks on how to use it all around your home.

What is a Soft Scrub?

A soft scrub is a gentle yet potent cleaning paste designed to tackle tough stains, grime, and buildup on various surfaces.

Unlike abrasive cleaners that can scratch delicate surfaces, a soft scrub offers a gentler approach while still giving you impressive results.

Typically, it consists of a few key ingredients, such as baking soda, liquid soap, and essential oils, which work together to lift dirt and leave surfaces sparkling clean.

This versatile cleaning solution can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, and even on outdoor surfaces, making it a staple in any home!

Benefits of Homemade Soft Scrub

Here are just a few more benefits of a homemade soft scrub:

  1. Environmentally Friendly: Unlike many commercial cleaners that contain harsh chemicals and toxins, a homemade soft scrub recipe uses natural ingredients that are safer for both your family and the environment.

By opting for a homemade version, you can significantly reduce your ecological footprint, and not have the risk of the harsh chemicals in your home.
  2. Cost-Effective: Making your own soft scrub is not only better for the environment but also for your wallet. The ingredients needed for a DIY soft scrub are often pantry staples, making it a budget-friendly cleaning solution.

I think this recipe costs less than $5 and you can reuse the leftover soft scrub ingredients time and time again!
  3. Customizable: One of the greatest perks of a DIY baking soda scrub recipe is that you can make it how you want.

You have the freedom to tailor the recipe to your preferences, whether that means adjusting the scent with different essential oils or tweaking the consistency to better suit your cleaning needs.
  4. Gentle Yet Effective: Unlike harsh abrasive cleaners, a soft scrub offers a gentle yet effective cleaning solution. Its mild abrasiveness helps to lift grime and stains without scratching delicate surfaces, making it ideal for your entire home!
  5. Peace of Mind: By making your own cleaning products, you have full control over what goes into them. This means you can avoid potentially harmful chemicals and ensure that your home is truly clean and toxin-free. My favorite benefit from a DIY heavy duty scrub by far!

How to Make Your Own DIY Soft Scrub

Now, here is my easy DIY soft scrub recipe to follow:

Materials Needed

Instructions

Put baking soda into your mason jar. Then add in your castile soap.

Next, add 10-15 drops of essential oil into the mason jar as well.

Fill the rest of the rest of the jar with water. Mix thoroughly.

Notes

  • Before each use, shake the mason jar. The mixture will settle when not in use so you will see the ingredients separate. It can last a few weeks.
  • This recipe will make enough for a 8oz mason jar.
  • You don’t have to use any essential oils, but I love how effective lemon essential oil is for cleaning!
