Until I was gifted one and then I was hooked. They helped me to eliminate my use of lip balm and helped all the dry skin on my lips go away completely!
It became a simple self care activity that I enjoy doing from time to time.
When I got my aloe vera plant, I knew I had to enjoy making all the things with it!
I started out with an aloe vera salve for our sun burns, and then I wanted to make a lip scrub with aloe vera too. It turned out so good I had to share!

Easy Aloe Vera Lip Scrub Recipe
Here is a super easy aloe vera scrub recipe to make your own aloe vera lip care!
Ingredients
- 4 ½ Tbsp. white sugar
- 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp. fresh aloe leaf
- Green food coloring (optional)
- Essential oils (optional)
- Glass jar
Instructions
Cut a 1 inch section of the aloe leaf. Slice off the skin, leaving the gel.
Use a fork to mush up the gel and break it apart.
If using food coloring, dip a toothpick into food coloring and mix it around the coconut oil.
Add all 3 ingredients to a mixing bowl.
Stir until combined and is the consistency of very wet sand.
Add mixture into a container with a tight-fitting lid.
Tips and Tricks
- You don’t have to use food coloring, and I would actually advise against it. I only used it to make the pictures stand out better.
- Keep in the fridge for a nice cooling effect! This really helps the aloe vera to heal your lips further.
- If the aloe is still too chunky, try using a mesh sieve or a spoon to help mash it up better.
- Make a large batch and give as DIY gifts.
- Add a drop of your favorite essential oil. Lavender would be a great option to help soothe dry lips.
- The nice thing about this is that you can even use it on your entire body as a scrub.

How To Use a Lip Scrub
Using clean hands, wet lips and take out a nickel size amount of scrub and add a drop or two of water. Gently rub mixture on lips in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Wipe off with a warm washcloth.
Follow with a lip balm!
