DIY Flower Soap Recipe
There’s something so pretty about handmade floral soap sitting by my sink. I remember seeing some beautiful soaps with flowers sitting on the top, I knew I HAD to try to make them.
While it took some trial and error, I figured it out and they made the most beautiful DIY gifts to give!
The little flowers make each bar feel special and unique, and they’re so fun to customize with different colors and essential oils.
I gave them as Mother’s Day gifts and everyone loved them 🙂
One of my favorite things about this DIY flower soap recipe is that you can make it look completely different every time; no two soap bars are alike!

DIY Flower Soap Recipe
Here is my step by step process for how to make these amazing homemade flower soap bars:
Ingredients
- 1 pound white melt-and-pour soap base
- Mica powders (blue, pink, yellow, purple, green)
- 15 drops essential oils of choice (I used ylang ylang!)
- Flower silicone molds
- Rectangle silicone mold

Instructions
Cut the soap base into small cubes so it melts evenly.
Place a small amount of soap base into a heat-safe silicone cup. Melt slowly using short 15-second microwave bursts or a double boiler.
Stir in your chosen mica powder until fully blended.

Pour the colored soap into the flower silicone molds.
Repeat for each color you want to make.

Allow the flower soaps to fully harden before removing them from the molds.

Melt the remaining white soap base.

Stir in your essential oils.

Pour the melted white soap into the rectangle mold until almost full and let sit for 20 or 30 minutes to firm up.

Then melt the soap base again and pour a thin layer.
Gently place the flower soaps on top, pressing them in slightly. Continue until the mold is filled and try to work quickly or else the soap will harden.

Allow the soap to fully harden at room temperature before removing it from the mold.
Cut with a wavy knife and enjoy!

Notes
- Use any essential oil you want.
- Work in small batches when coloring so the soap does not harden too quickly.
- Mix and match colors for a more natural floral look.
- Store finished soap in a cool, dry place.
- Wrap extra bars tightly to help prevent dew that happens on melt and pour soaps.
Best Essential Oils for Floral Soap
You can really use any essential oil blend you love here! A few of my favorites are:
- Lavender
- Geranium
- Sweet orange
- Ylang ylang
- Bergamot
- Rosemary
- Calm blend from Far & Wild
If you’re new to essential oils, lavender is always such an easy place to start. It pairs beautifully with the floral design and gives the soap a soft, calming scent 🙂
