Wild Pansy Salve Recipe
Now you know all the benefits, here is how to make your own homemade wild pansy salve:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried wild pansy leaves
- 1 cup avocado oil (or your preferred carrier oil)
- 2 tbsp beeswax pellets
- 1 tsp vitamin E oil (optional, for preservation)
- Essential oils (optional – lavender, chamomile, or frankincense)
- 2 glass jars (for infusion and storage)
- Strainer or cheesecloth (I use these strainer lids)
- 6 small tins (or something similar for storing salve)
Instructions:
Fill a glass jar with dried wild pansy leaves, almost to the top. Pour avocado oil over the leaves, ensuring they are completely submerged. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place for 4 weeks, shaking daily to help the infusion process.

After 4 weeks, strain the oil using a fine-mesh sieve, cheesecloth, or a mason jar strainer lid into a heat-resistant container.

In a double boiler, melt the beeswax pellets over low heat, then stir in the infused oil. If using, add vitamin E oil for preservation.

Once fully melted, remove from heat and stir in 15 drops of essential oil for added skin benefits.
Pour the mixture into small tins or glass jars and let it cool completely before sealing.

Storage & Shelf Life
🕰 Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months. If you added vitamin E oil, it may last longer.
🌿 Tip: Keep it away from direct sunlight or heat to prevent melting.

FAQs
Can I use fresh wild pansy instead of dried?
Dried wild pansy is recommended because it has a more concentrated medicinal effect and prevents moisture contamination in the oil infusion.
How often should I apply wild pansy salve?
Apply as needed, especially to dry or irritated areas. For daily moisturizing, once or twice a day is ideal.
Can I make this salve without beeswax?
Yes! You can substitute beeswax with candelilla wax (vegan option) or use less beeswax for a softer balm.
What is the best carrier oil to use?
Avocado oil is deeply moisturizing, but you can also use olive oil, jojoba oil, or almond oil depending on your skin type.
