Cotton Candy Soap Recipe
This DIY cotton candy soap recipe will make 6 soap bars, but you can double it or play around to create however many you need for your activity or home.
Ingredients
- 1 pound melt and pour soap base (my favorite is this goat milk’s soap base!)
- 15 drops ylang ylang essential oil
- 15 drops grapefruit essential oil
- 5 drops vanilla essential oil
- ¼ tsp blue mica powder
- ¼ tsp pink mica powder
Materials Needed
To make this look exactly like the pictures, you will need to get this oval soap mold. However, any soap mold will work.
Check out some of my favorite soap molds!
You will want a couple of glass microwave safe bowls to melt the soap base inside as well as something to stir the mixture together, usually a silicone spoon or wooden craft stick work great.
Finally, if you do not want bubbles on the bottom of your soap, you will want a small spray bottle with some rubbing alcohol inside. You do not have to have this, but it is always nice to have a nice, smooth surface when you are finished!
Instructions
- Start by cutting the soap base into small squares. Put them into one of the measuring cups.
- Heat on high for 30 seconds in the microwave, then remove and stir thoroughly. Heat for 10 seconds at a time until the soap is fully melted. Stirring in between helps the soap base not to overheat.
- Once it is fully melted, allow it to sit for a few minutes to cool down, then add each of the essential oils. Stir to fully combine.
- Pour half of the mixture into the second measuring cup.
- Add blue mica to one of the cups of melted soap base, and stir until it is fully combined. Do the same for the pink mica in the other measuring cup.
- Pour a small amount of the pink soap base into the soap mold, to cover a small section of the bottom. Wait a minute or so to have it set a bit, then pour some of the blue soap base. Go back and forth alternating between the colors until you have filled each of the molds.
- Spray the top with rubbing alcohol to help reduce bubbles. You can also spray between pouring to help the soap better stick together.
- Allow soap to set. I usually let it set overnight, but a couple of hours should do just fine.
That’s it! This cotton candy soap recipe is super easy to follow and will be so fun to make together with your kids!
