Here is a simple lemongrass lotion bar recipe that you will love.

Lotion Bar Benefits

Many will use a lemongrass body butter for the benefits of lemongrass for skin; however, I personally find lotion bars to be much more beneficial. Here are a few of my favorite lotion bar benefits.

  • Lotion bars moisturize your skin. They are especially good for dry skin.
  • The oils and butters you use to make lotion bars help to add protection to your skin. Each has their own added benefits too.
  • Another lotion bar benefit is that it is completely portable! Take it with you wherever you go for easy use.
  • A little goes a long way so it will last a long time, unlike regular lotions.
  • It is hard to get a lot all at once, which means it will last a lot longer than traditional lotion.
  • If you use a shea butter lotion bar, it will help with eczema and psoriasis!
  • Lotion bars are very easy to use, a great benefit especially for little kids. They are messy either!
  • Depending on the mold you use, lotion bars can easily in your purse or diaper bag and are great for traveling, especially since they are not liquid like regular lotions.
  • You won’t get in trouble at airports with a shea lotion bar!
  • Usually, lotion bars don’t come in plastic so they are very eco-friendly too.
  • Lotion bars can also be used in the shower to further moisturize your entire body.
  • When you make your own organic body lotion bar, you will know exactly the ingredients inside and it won’t have any preservatives, chemicals, or bad toxins inside, making it my personal favorite lotion bar benefit!

Benefits of Lemongrass

There are so many benefits of using lemongrass in your lotion bars. Here are some of my favorite benefits of lemongrass:

  • It is antibacterial and antifungal, so it can help prevent the growth or yeast or bacteria.
  • Can reduce pain and swelling. It is apart of my favorite muscle pain relief salve I make because of how effective it is for pain! This is due to the anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Lemongrass essential oil can also help to detox your body, removing all impurities.
  • It contains antioxidants, which are also super great for your skin.
  • Of course, you probably already know that lemongrass deters bugs, so it’s a great summertime lotion bar to have on hand when you plan to be outside.
  • The smell of lemongrass essential oil is also super uplifting, and can help with stress and anxiety. Also, great for energy levels for some people too.
  • Some found lemongrass helpful in relieving migraines and headaches as well. This is probably because of the anti-inflammatory properties like mentioned above!

Here is exactly how to make these incredible lotion bars! Follow this lemongrass lotion bar recipe, perfect for men, summer, and all-year round.

This recipe will make 18 lotion bars if you use the molds down below, which should last all summer long!

Ingredients

Use a quality essential oil like Plant Therapy or Mountain Rose Herbs!

How to Make Lotion Bar

  1. Add beeswax and shea butter to a microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl. If you can find one with a spout for pouring that would be best and less messy, but not necessary.
  1. Heat for 30-seconds at a time. Remove and stir between each heat session. Keep heating until the beeswax is fully melted. This will take a few minutes. You can also heat it up in a double boiler or a glass jar in a pot of water on the stove if you prefer.
  1. Add in the sweet almond oil. Then heat for an additional 30 seconds.
  1. Add mica powder and essential oil, and stir until completely mixed.
  1. Then, simply pour into the molds, and refrigerate for 1 hour to set! You can also leave them out overnight and they will harden on their own.

Notes

  • You can use a variety of oils! Instead of sweet almond oil, try coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, or avocado oil. It really depends on what you want to use your lotion bar for. If you want one for the face, try jojoba oil. You can also use infused herbal oils too to enhance the benefits!
  • Just like with oils, you can also use different butters.
  • You do not have to use mica powder at all. It is only if you want.
  • The same goes for essential oils. You don’t have to use them if you don’t want to. They only add smell and some benefits depending on the oils.
  • Use any mold you want! You can make whatever design. However, try to stick to one that doesn’t have small sections, like a star as those typically break easily when removing or using.
  • For a vegan lotion bar recipe, replace beeswax with carnauba wax

How to Use Lotion Bars

Lotion bars are pretty easy to use! Simply rub the lotion bar in your hand. It takes a couple of seconds to warm up.

When you feel it starting to melt, then you can rub over the body part you wish. When you are finished, rub in the excess like you would normal lotion bars.
