DIY Deodorant Spray
When I first started swapping out conventional body care for DIY herbal options, deodorant was one of the trickiest.
I wanted something clean, simple, and safe, without baking soda or complicated ingredients. I made one non baking soda deodorant, but didn’t care for the white stains it left.
After a bit of trial and error, this gentle DIY deodorant spray became a staple in our home. I’m so glad I finally tried a non traditional deodorant like this one!
It’s light, refreshing, and easy to make with just a few ingredients. Plus, it actually works and lasts much longer than other ones I’ve tried!

Why This Deodorant Works
Here are a few reasons why this is a powerful, yet gentle deodorant:
- 190 proof alcohol acts as the main antibacterial agent. It helps prevent odor by reducing the bacteria that cause it.
- Witch hazel is a natural astringent that helps tighten pores and reduce sweat.
- Distilled water helps dilute and balance the solution.
- Vegetable glycerin adds a bit of moisture, helping it stay gentle on the skin. This was a key ingredient for me!
- Essential oils give this spray its scent and boost its antibacterial properties. You can use whatever oils you love or need most.

How to Make Natural Spray Deodorant
Ingredients (makes 2 ounces)
- 3 tablespoons 190 proof alcohol
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel
- 1 tablespoon distilled water
- ½ teaspoon vegetable glycerin
- 10 drops essential oils (I loved ylang ylang + cedarwood)

Instructions
Add essential oils to the alcohol and stir gently to combine.

Using a small funnel, pour the mixture into a clean 2-ounce glass spray bottle.
Add the witch hazel, glycerin, and distilled water.

Shake gently before each use.
Notes
- Any essential oils will work. Try lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus, or lemon for freshness.
- Because of the alcohol content, this spray has a shelf life of around a year.
- It’s great for travel or keeping in your bag for a quick refresh.

How I Use It
