DIY Pumpkin Sugar Scrub Bars
It always my favorite time; that first crisp breeze, the one that makes me want to wrap up in a soft sweater, light a cinnamon candle, and bring all things pumpkin into my life again.
This time of year calls for warm spices, comforting rituals, and extra care for our skin as the air gets drier. One of my favorite little autumn self-care traditions is making a batch of DIY pumpkin sugar scrub bars.
They’re simple, soothing, and just the right mix of cozy and practical.
I like to keep a few of these in the bathroom for quick exfoliation in the shower. The scent is like a gentle hug, and they always remind me of this beautiful fall season.
I hope you like them as much as I do!

Benefits of Pumpkin for the Skin
Pumpkin is more than just a seasonal flavor. When used in skincare, pumpkin powder provides a gentle dose of natural enzymes, vitamins A and C, and antioxidants.
These support skin renewal and can brighten a dull complexion, especially helpful as our skin adjusts to changing weather.
Paired with brown sugar, which acts as a natural exfoliant, and nourishing coconut oil, these scrub bars help slough off dry skin while locking in moisture.

Pumpkin Sugar Scrub Bars Recipe
This recipe makes 2 big scrub bars.
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup melt-and-pour soap base
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin powder
- 5-8 drops pumpkin pine essential oil blend
- Silicone mold
- Soap curvy knife

Instructions
In a double boiler or microwave (short bursts), melt the soap base and coconut oil until fully liquid.

Stir in your essential oil blend.

Add pumpkin powder and brown sugar. Mix until thick and gritty.

Spoon the mixture into silicone molds. Press gently to make sure the sugar doesn’t settle at the bottom.

Let the bars cool and harden fully before removing from the mold. Use the wavy soap knife to cut into small pieces.

Notes
- Optional: Cut into smaller pieces for easy single-use scrub bars. If doing this, it will make around 10 small ones.
- Be sure to mix everything fast. As you can see on mine, the white soap pieces were getting hard before I finished mixing.
- The Pumpkin Pine essential oil blend from Far & Wild is AMAZING. It really makes this smell like pumpkin pie! You will love it!

How I Use These
I keep a few in a jar by the tub and gift the extras to friends. They’re perfect for a quick foot scrub or an all-over exfoliating treat in the shower.
Just remember they can make the floor a bit slippery, so use a bath mat and be careful.
If you’ve got little ones like I do, you might find they enjoy “helping” you make these too. Mine love the way it smells, and I love that I know exactly what’s going onto our skin.
