DIY Peppermint Milk Bath
Last winter, after a long day of running errands with little ones in tow and the house in total chaos, my husband got home from work so I could sneak away to draw a warm bath.
I had just mixed up a batch of DIY peppermint milk bath soak earlier that week and decided to use it. My muscles were so relaxed and I felt so grounded, so I had to share the recipe with you.
It’s simple to make, soothing for your skin and muscles and will help you feel relaxed after a long day!
Benefits of Peppermint
Peppermint isn’t just for tea and candy canes. It has a long history of use for soothing the body and mind. Here are a few of my favorite benefits:
- Cooling and Refreshing: Peppermint essential oil has natural menthol, which offers a gentle cooling sensation that can help relieve tension, especially in tired muscles or achy joints.
- Aromatherapy Support: The invigorating scent of peppermint can help clear mental fog and promote feelings of clarity and calm. It’s especially helpful after a long day or when you feel mentally scattered.
- Skin Soothing: Dried peppermint leaves are mildly astringent and can help tone the skin. They also add a beautiful, natural look to your bath blend.
These benefits mixed with the soothing benefits of powdered milk make for a very powerful bath.

DIY Peppermint Milk Bath Recipe
This recipe makes around 6 to 8 ounces, just enough for a few peaceful baths or a sweet handmade gift.
Ingredients
- ½ cup powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 2 tablespoons peppermint leaves
Instructions
Add the peppermint leaves and corn starch into the powdered milk. Stir to combine.
Add in the drops of essential oils and mix.
Pour into a glass jar to store it.
To Use: Add ¼ to ½ cup to the bath and soak for 20-30 minutes.
Notes
- If you want to make this even more beneficial, try adding a tablespoon of Epsom salts for extra magnesium or a few drops of vanilla or lavender essential oil to round out the scent.
- You don’t have to use the peppermint leaves, I just wanted it to look pretty! If you do, use a muslin cloth bag to easily keep your bathtub clean.
