DIY Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrub Recipe

Some DIY projects feel like work. This DIY pink lemonade sugar scrub doesn’t! I love it because it is bright, cheerful, and swirled with shades of pink and yellow, it captures the playful spirit of summer in a jar.

Whether you’re whipping it up for your own self-care routine, making a batch to gift to a friend, or looking for a fun activity the whole family can enjoy, this recipe delivers on every front.

It’s one of my favorite homemade skincare recipes when I want something easy and fun. If your new to body scrubs, this is an easy place to start 🙂

The lemony scent feels fresh, the pink-and-yellow swirl looks cheerful in the jar, and I can tweak the color or oil blend without making the recipe harder. Here’s how I make this DIY summer sugar scrub!

Why I Reach for This Sweet, Citrus Scrub

This scrub checks a lot of boxes for me. It’s beginner-friendly, fast to make, and useful when my skin feels rough. I can make it with one bowl and a jar, which is always a plus. It also has that happy pink lemonade look, so it feels a little more special than a plain sugar scrub!

Sugar gives me the exfoliating part. It buffs away dry, flaky skin without feeling too harsh when I use a light hand. I like it on my hands, elbows, and feet, where skin usually feels rough first.

The oil keeps the scrub from feeling stripped. A good carrier oil helps my skin feel softer and smoother after I rinse. That simple mix of sugar and oil is why this recipe works so well.

The colors don’t change how the scrub works. They’re there because they make the jar look like pink lemonade, and I love that! The swirl takes almost no extra effort, but it makes the recipe feel gift-worthy and a lot more fun to keep by the sink or tub.

Notes

  • Use a spoon or dry hands to avoid introducing water into the scrub and it should last 6 months or so.
  • I used grapefruit and lemon essential oil, but any work! If using citrus essential oils, be sure to not go in the sun afterward, just in case.

How to Use It

In the shower or over a sink, scoop a small amount of scrub and massage gently onto damp skin using circular motions. Focus on elbows, knees, and anywhere skin feels rough. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Use two to three times per week is plenty for most skin types. Because citrus essential oils can increase sun sensitivity, avoid applying to areas that will be exposed to direct sunlight right after use.

Store in a sealed glass jar, away from water and direct sunlight. Always use a dry spoon to scoop, moisture shortens shelf life quickly.
