Easy DIY Lavender Candle
Learn how to easily make your own DIY lavender candle with this simple recipe! I used an herbal infusion for this homemade candle so I didn’t have to worry about fire hazards, and I love the result!
Nothing creates a calming, spa-like atmosphere quite like the warm glow of a lavender candle. This Homemade Lavender Candle is infused with real lavender flowers and beeswax, creating a gentle, natural aroma that promotes relaxation and reduces stress.
Unlike store-bought candles with synthetic fragrances, this DIY version is non-toxic, eco-friendly, and completely customizable.
I wanted to create a DIY candle, so when I went to look for inspiration, I saw all these beautiful candles with flowers in them. But, from what I was reading and studying, it looked like it created a fire hazard, and it turns out, I was right!
Some bloggers who originally used flowers in their candles had the flowers burn and created so many problems. So I created this homemade lavender candle that doesn’t have the flowers in the final result but still smells amazing and more powerful than a simple essential oil candle.
Here is the recipe and all the benefits of making your own DIY lavender candles.

Why Make a Homemade Lavender Candle?
Here are my favorite benefits from using homemade lavender candles:
🌿 All-Natural & Non-Toxic – No artificial fragrances, just pure lavender and beeswax. Traditional candles contain some toxic ingredients that were giving me tons of headaches, so I knew I had to switch!
🌿 Aromatherapy Benefits – Lavender is known for its calming, stress-reducing, and sleep-enhancing properties. It is so relaxing before bed!
🌿 Longer Burn Time – Beeswax burns longer and cleaner than paraffin candles. I was surprised by how long it lasted!
🌿 Perfect for Gifting – A beautiful, handmade candle makes a thoughtful gift for any occasion. One of my favorite lavender gift ideas.

Homemade Lavender Candle Recipe
Here is how I made this simple DIY lavender infused candle:
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups beeswax (white, yellow, or a mix)
- 1 cup dried lavender flowers
- 2 teaspoons lavender essential oil (around 150 drops)
- Glass jar (for your candle)
- Candle-making kit (includes wick, wick holder, and wick stickers)

Instructions
In a double boiler or a heat-safe container over medium-low heat, melt the beeswax and lavender flowers together.

While the wax is melting, place the wick in the center of the candle jar, securing it with a wick holder or wick sticker.
Allow the lavender to infuse into the wax for a few hours, stirring occasionally to release its fragrance.
After a few hours, strain out the lavender flowers from the melted wax. (Leaving dried lavender in the candle can be a fire hazard.)

If you want a stronger lavender scent, stir in lavender essential oil.
Carefully pour the melted wax into the glass jar, ensuring the wick stays centered.
Let the candle sit undisturbed until fully hardened.

If the candle caves in at the top, melt a little extra beeswax and pour a thin layer over the surface to smooth it out.
Once fully set, trim the wick to about ¼ inch for an even burn.

Customization & Tips
Adding lavender essential oil enhances the aroma. You can also blend it with vanilla, chamomile, or cedarwood essential oil for a unique twist.
Using white or yellow beeswax will slightly change the candle’s color. Or you can also use soy wax too!

While I don’t recommend leaving lavender flowers inside, you can still give it some color! Add wax dyes for a colorful touch!
Let the candle cure for 24 hours before its first burn to maximize scent throw.
