But, I really loved how easy it was to give as gifts. We did this last year for Christmas and it turned out so great.
So whether you’re prepping for the holidays, looking to eliminate odors naturally, or just want your home to smell amazing, this simple guide will walk you through everything you need to know to make a nice DIY Stovetop potpourri.

What are Simmer Pots?
A Simmer pot aka Stovetop Potpourris is essentially a mix of fragrant ingredients like fruits, spices, and herbs simmered in a pot to release a pleasant aroma. It is an all-natural air freshener.
The beauty of these simmer pot blends is their simplicity. They’re eco-friendly, all-natural, and versatile, making them perfect for any season.
Unlike candles or synthetic sprays, simmer pots offer a healthier alternative to keeping your home smelling fresh.
Common ingredients like cinnamon sticks, orange peels, and cloves not only smell incredible but also have aromatherapy benefits that promote relaxation and well-being.

What’s in a Simmer Pot Kit?
A simmer pot kit is a pre-assembled set of natural ingredients used to create a stovetop potpourri. It’s designed to make your home smell delightful, using aromatic fruits, spices, and herbs.
Each simmer pot ingredient plays a unique role in creating a cozy and inviting ambience. Simmer pot kits are perfect for personal use or as thoughtful, handmade gifts.
Let’s take a quick look at the ingredients in this holiday simmer pot blend:
Oranges (Dried Slices)
Oranges bring a bright, zesty aroma that fills the room with freshness and energy. The citrus scent uplifts your mood, reduces stress, and creates a clean, refreshing atmosphere.

Cranberries (Dried)
Cranberries add a pop of vibrant color and a mild fruity fragrance. They symbolize the holiday season and provide a subtle tartness to balance the sweeter scents.
If you want to give this as a gift, I would do dried, so you can preserve it longer.
Star Anise
Star anise has a warm, licorice-like fragrance that adds depth to the aroma. It enhances relaxation and gives the simmering pot an exotic, sophisticated scent profile.

Cloves
These tiny, aromatic spice buds pack a punch of warm, spicy fragrance. Cloves are known for their ability to neutralize odors and promote a cozy, inviting feeling in your space.
Cinnamon Sticks
Cinnamon sticks are the backbone of most simmer pot recipes, offering a rich, spicy aroma. They evoke memories of holidays, baking, and warm gatherings, creating a comforting environment.
