Making your own dandelion infused oil is an easy and rewarding way to capture some of that goodness. It’s gentle, versatile, and a great addition to any natural skincare routine.

Here is my guide on not only how to make your own dandelion infused oil, but all the benefits and ways to use it!

Benefits of Dandelion Infused Oil

Dandelions are rich in vitamins A, C, and E, along with powerful antioxidants that support healthy, resilient skin.

Research shows that dandelions have strong anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and pain-relieving properties. It’s pretty incredible!

Here’s why dandelion oil is so useful:

  • Soothes sore muscles and joints – Dandelion’s anti-inflammatory properties can help ease minor aches and pains when massaged into the skin (source, Journal of Ethnopharmacology).
  • Softens dry, rough skin – The natural emollients in dandelion infused oil help moisturize and protect the skin’s barrier.
  • Calms irritated skin – Dandelion is gentle enough for sensitive or inflamed skin, helping to reduce redness and discomfort (source, Molecules Journal).
  • Supports wound healing – Thanks to its antibacterial and antifungal compounds, dandelion oil can help protect minor cuts, scrapes, and bug bites (source, International Journal of Molecular Sciences).
  • Antioxidant protection – The antioxidants in dandelion help shield the skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress (source, Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin).

How to Make Dandelion Infused Oil

Now you know the benefits, here is how to make your own homemade dandelion infused oil:

Ingredients

  • Fresh dandelions
  • Carrier oil of choice (I used avocado oil)
  • Glass jar with lid

Instructions

Pick your dandelions on a dry day and lay them out to dry for 1–2 days. This helps prevent mold during infusion.
Fill a clean glass jar about halfway with dried dandelion flowers.

Pour carrier oil over the flowers, making sure they are completely submerged.

Seal the jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 6 weeks, shaking gently every few days. After 6 weeks, strain the oil using cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer.

Store your finished oil in a clean, labeled jar in a cool spot.

  • Be sure your dandelions are fully dry before infusing to prevent spoilage.
  • Label your jar with the date so you remember when it’s ready to strain.
