Homemade Cinnamon Infused Honey

When I first started studying herbs, one of the combinations that really stood out to me was cinnamon and honey. I learned how powerful this blend could be for easing coughs and sore throats.

Naturally, I had to try a homemade cinnamon infused honey for my family. Once we did, we loved it, especially my young daughter. Now it’s something I always keep in our kitchen, and I wanted to share this simple, comforting recipe with you too.

Here are the benefits of using a cinnamon infused honey recipe along with this simple easy homemade recipe.

The Benefits of Cinnamon and Honey

Cinnamon isn’t just a warming spice for cozy drinks. It can stimulate circulation, support digestion, and help the body fight off colds and infections.

Ceylon cinnamon is the milder, more medicinal variety, though cassia cinnamon works well in small amounts too.

Honey, especially raw and local, has been cherished for centuries for its soothing, antimicrobial, and immune-supporting properties.

Together, cinnamon and honey create a blend that not only tastes lovely but offers real support during cold and flu season! I was so surprised by how effective it was not only for myself but my young children. It’s the only honey they request now!

Safety Notes: Avoid giving honey to children under one year old. If you’re pregnant or taking medication, especially blood thinners, talk to a healthcare provider before using large amounts of cinnamon.

I am not a doctor/physician, nurse, or any other medical professional. This is for informational purposes only. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or treatment.

How to Make Cinnamon-Infused Honey

Here is exactly how I made my homemade cinnamon infused honey:

Ingredients

cinnamon infused honey ingredients

Instructions

Break up your cinnamon sticks and place them in a clean glass jar until it’s about halfway full.

Slowly pour honey over the cinnamon, allowing it to settle and cover the sticks completely. Use a clean butter knife to gently release any air bubbles.

Seal the jar. Each day, flip it gently to help the infusion distribute evenly.

Let it sit for 2 to 4 weeks. You can then strain the sticks or leave them in. I usually just leave them in!

Notes

  • You can use cinnamon powder, but you won’t be able to strain it. It will just stay in while you use it. I’ve tried both ways and prefer the sticks.

How I Use It in My Home

We reach for this honey any time someone in the house feels a tickle in their throat. I add it to chamomile or ginger tea, stir it into warm lemon water, or offer it by the spoonful for a soothing, gentle remedy.

It’s also delicious on pancakes or in oatmeal when we want a bit of cinnamon flavor too!
