DIY Coffee Lip Balm Recipe

There’s something magical about a lip balm you made yourself. Not only does it feel more nourishing, but you also know exactly what’s going on your lips, no mystery ingredients, no artificial scents, just pure goodness!

I recently made a DIY coffee lip scrub and I loved the smell so much, I needed to make a lip balm version to enjoy it longer!

This DIY coffee lip balm smells like a warm vanilla latte and glides on silky smooth. It’s the kind of balm you’ll want to keep in every pocket, purse, and car console, I know I do!!

Plus, it makes a sweet little handmade gift, especially in the colder months when everyone’s lips are needing a little TLC 🙂

And the best part? It’s SO easy to make! Here’s my simple homemade coffee lip balm recipe for you to enjoy some too!

Ingredients + Benefits

Here are all the ingredients I used in my recipe and why I chose them:

Coffee-Infused Oil: Coffee oil brings a gentle boost of circulation to your lips (think fuller, more naturally plump lips) and is full of antioxidant goodness. It smells amazing too, warm, rich, and comforting.

Cocoa Butter: This gives the balm its creamy glide and delicious chocolatey scent. Cocoa butter is rich in fatty acids and helps repair and protect chapped lips with long-lasting moisture. I LOVE it and typically use it in all my lip balms!

Beeswax: A lip balm essential, beeswax creates a natural barrier that seals in moisture and keeps the balm solid. It’s what gives this recipe that perfect, firm texture that won’t melt in your pocket.

Vanilla Oleoresin + Coffee Essential Oil: These bring the scent to life. A few drops of each is all you need to turn this from a basic lip balm into a delicious smelling coffee chapstick.

Safety note: Coffee essential oil is strong, so use it sparingly, especially on sensitive areas like lips. And as always, test a bit first if you’ve never used it before!

DIY Coffee Lip Balm Recipe

This recipe makes enough for about 5 standard lip balm tubes:

Ingredients:

Instructions

Start by making your coffee-infused oil. Add ground coffee to a clean glass jar and pour your carrier oil over the top until fully covered.

Stir gently and let it sit for a few weeks (shaking occasionally), then strain through a fine mesh or cheesecloth. If you’re in a hurry, you can gently warm it in a double boiler for a few hours instead.

Once you’ve got your oil ready, it’s time to make balm. In a double boiler, combine the coffee-infused oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax.

Stir occasionally until everything is fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool for about a minute (you want it warm, not hot).

Add your essential oils and vanilla oleoresin, stirring gently to blend.

Natural Lip Balm for Soft Lips.

I keep one of these on my nightstand and one in my purse, I just love it that much! If your lips tend to dry out in the winter, this balm is rich enough to offer real relief, but still light enough for everyday use.

It is the perfect thing to use after a homemade coffee lip scrub 🙂
