DIY Vanilla Sugar Scrub Recipe

Use this vanilla sugar scrub recipe to have super soft skin! This homemade recipe is easy to follow and will make you smell wonderful while helping your skin be nice and soft.

Sugar scrubs have long been a favorite in skincare routines due to their exfoliating and moisturizing properties.

I absolutely love making sugar scrubs! I use them every time I shower because I hate having dead skin on my body.

I also adore vanilla, so I knew I had to make my own DIY vanilla sugar scrub!

Here is my recipe along with all the benefits from this incredible sugar scrub recipe.

Benefits of Vanilla Sugar Scrub

Not only does it smell good, a vanilla sugar body scrub has some benefits too:

Sugar

Sugar is the main exfoliant in this scrub. Its granulated texture is perfect for removing dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover, and leaving the skin smooth and radiant.

Sugar granules are small and non-abrasive, making them suitable for sensitive skin. They effectively slough off dead skin cells without causing irritation.

Sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin. This helps to keep the skin hydrated and plump.

Sugar also contains glycolic acid, a natural alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that helps to break down dead skin cells and promote healthy skin regeneration.

Vanilla Essential Oil

Vanilla essential oil is not just an amazing scent but also offers some awesome skin benefits:

  • Antioxidant Properties: Vanilla is rich in antioxidants that help to neutralize free radicals, preventing skin damage and premature aging.
  • Soothing Effects: The calming scent of vanilla can help reduce stress and anxiety, making your skincare routine a more relaxing experience. It is my most favorite scent for relaxing.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: Vanilla has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe and calm irritated skin.

Vanilla Bean Powder

Vanilla bean powder adds even more benefits to the scrub:

  • Exfoliation: The fine particles of vanilla bean powder provide additional exfoliation, enhancing the scrub’s ability to remove dead skin cells.
  • Rich Aroma: Vanilla bean powder intensifies the scent of the scrub, making it more aromatic and enjoyable.
  • Nutrient-Rich: Vanilla beans contain small amounts of vitamins and minerals that can nourish the skin.

Almond Oil

And finally, almond oil has a few benefits as well:

  • Moisturizing: Almond oil is highly emollient, which helps to keep the skin moisturized and soft. It penetrates deep into the skin, providing long-lasting hydration.
  • Rich in Vitamins: It is packed with vitamins E and A, which help to protect the skin from damage and promote skin health.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: Almond oil’s anti-inflammatory properties can help to soothe and calm the skin, reducing redness and irritation.
  • Non-Comedogenic: It is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, making it suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin.

Tips for Using Vanilla Sugar Scrub

Use the scrub in the shower or bath for the best results. Apply it to damp skin, using gentle circular motions to massage the scrub onto your skin. Focus on areas that are prone to dryness or roughness, such as elbows, knees, and feet.

For most skin types, using the sugar scrub 2-3 times a week is sufficient. Over-exfoliating can lead to skin irritation and sensitivity.

After exfoliating, it’s crucial to moisturize your skin to lock in hydration. Apply a body lotion or calendula body oil immediately after drying off to keep your skin smooth and soft.

Storage

Store your vanilla sugar scrub in an airtight container to keep it fresh. Avoid getting water into the container, as this can cause the scrub to spoil more quickly. Use a dry spoon to scoop out the scrub for each use.
