I love my sea moss sugar scrub, but many I think this is my new favorite DIY sugar scrub recipe. I could not believe how soft my skin was after using it!

What is Tallow Sugar Scrub?
Tallow sugar scrub is a natural exfoliating and moisturizing product made from rendered tallow, sugar, and essential oils.
Unlike many store-bought scrubs that are loaded with synthetic fragrances and preservatives, this DIY sugar scrub is free of harsh chemicals and completely customizable.
The sugar acts as a gentle exfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells, while the tallow deeply moisturizes and restores your skin’s natural glow.

Ingredients Needed for Tallow Sugar Scrub
To create this luxurious scrub, you’ll need:
- ½ cup rendered tallow (learn how to make your own!)
- 1/8 cup jojoba oil
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 20 drops essential oils (I used my favorite vanilla sea salt blend)

How to Make Tallow Sugar Scrub
Place the rendered tallow in a glass jar and slowly heat in a double broiler until melted. If you’re short on time, you can use the microwave, but keep an eye on it to avoid overheating.

Once the tallow is melted, stir in the jojoba oil for added moisture and a silky texture.
Pour the mixture into a bowl and let it cool until it begins to harden. Then, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip it until light and fluffy. This step gives the scrub a luxurious, creamy consistency.

Then add in your essential oils.

Gently fold in the sugar, making sure it’s evenly mixed but not overworked.

That’s it! Put it in a glass jar and use it within a few weeks.
Notes
- Any carrier oil works, you don’t have to use jojoba oil.
- You can also make an herbal infusion for your carrier oil. I love either a rose infused oil or calendula infused oil in my sugar scrubs.
- Any essential oil works, but you also don’t need one either, totally up to you.
- You can use brown sugar if you want. I love cane sugar!
